In Lady Gaga's latest Gagavision video, the singer opens up about the making of 'Judas.' In episode 42, fans learn that Gaga has been hard at work preparing for the highly anticipated release of Born This Way's second single, which drops April 19.

'I graphic-designed the 'Judas' single cover myself,' she shares in the video. 'I photographed the image with my cell phone for texture.'

Gaga then sits in a Haus meeting, discussing the specifics of her album release. 'I don't want the word 'deluxe' on the album,' she stipulates to her team. 'I hate that word.' Scattered around Gaga are images, seemingly from something 'Judas'-related. On one photo the word 'Judas' is printed with a cross on it, looking like artwork that could have easily appeared in Baz Luhrmann's version of 'Romeo and Juliet.' More photos are also spread on the floor, one of which seems to be of Gaga, her hair long and blond.

Gaga also opens up about her May 23 album release in the new issue of Harper's Bazaar. She explains that she believes her friend the late Alexander McQueen has had a hand in helping her craft Born This Way and its chart-topping lead single of the same name.

'I think he planned the whole thing: Right after he died, I wrote 'Born This Way.' I think he's up in heaven with fashion strings in his hands, marionetting away, planning this whole thing,' she said. That theory seemed to gain some momentum when her label moved up the release date of 'BTW' to a date close to the anniversary of his death.

'When I heard that, I knew he planned the whole damn thing,' she added. 'I didn't even write the f---ing song. He did!'

She adds that fans should brace themselves for the album release. They've only been teased by what's in store. ' 'Born This Way' is the marijuana to the heroin of the album,' she said. 'The [album's] experience gets massively more intense as you explore it. All the different songs are different kinds of highs.'

Composers Salim-Sulaiman says Gaga had a 'very positive response' to their version.

Shortly after dropping a country-fried version of 'Born This Way,' Indian composers Salim-Sulaiman were approached to do a Bollywood version of the song, breathing new life into the chart-topping track and putting their own Desi seal on it.

'It was kind of difficult to start with,' Sulaiman Merchant told MTV News, crediting entertainment website Desi Hits! for helping to curate the collaboration. 'It's been such a big track, it's been very popular, and when you consider the style, it's very aggressive. It's got all the stuff that's required to make it a nice clubby track, so for us, the most important thing was: How do you get it into a zone where it's palpable to the Indian flavor? And the first thing we did was bring in a sitar, and that changed the flavor a little bit. We kept the aggression but changed the style and made it a little more four on the floor, a little more house.'

Salim Merchant added that 'we wanted to bring in an Indian sound ... and give a Sufi touch as well.' He explained that after getting over some initial nerves, 'It's fantastic how it all turned out. There was this little pressure because the song was #1. I guess once we put that baggage behind ... it was magical. Once we started it, everything came into place. It became a celebration.'

While Gaga is a global superstar, Sulaiman said she has yet to really permeate India's pop culture. 'Lady Gaga hasn't been as popular as we would like it to be over here, so this track wasn't as big before,' he said. 'We finished the mix, and now it's getting into the zone where it's gaining popularity. It's a great way to get eyeballs and ears onto Lady Gaga.'

Has Gaga given the guys any indication of how she feels about the track? 'She has liked it,' Salim said. 'She did mention she really loves it. When we did send her the final version, we did get a big very, very positive response. She really loved it. That's what she mentioned. I'm really happy. Finally the artist is Gaga about the song.'

Just a few weeks after the May 23 release of her highly anticipated new album, Born This Way, Lady Gaga will take the stage to perform at the MTV Video Music Aid Japan on June 25.

According to a press release, Gaga is the first performer to be announced for the 10th annual MTV Video Music Awards Japan, which is being dubbed the Video Music Aid Japan this year in order to raise awareness about the recent natural disasters that hit the country and benefit the Japanese Red Cross. The international event will be hosted by Japanese pop sensation AKB48 and feature a string of performances from international, regional and Japanese artists.

The broadcast will be a highlight of MTV Japan's Music of Hope campaign, which is the channel's multiplatform response to the tragic March 11 earthquake and tsunami. In addition to the usual award-show traditions, the program is expected to feature news about the artists and youths who have been impacted by the country's natural disasters.

MTV Video Music Aid Japan will broadcast live from the Makuhari Messe convention center near Tokyo on MTV Japan, MTV Korea, MTV China and MTV Southeast Asia. In addition, a special one-hour version of the event will air on MTV channels worldwide as an installment of the network's weekly live music series.

Mother Monster's performance at the VMAJ is just another attempt for the pop superstar to assist in the Japan relief efforts. On the very same day that the earthquake hit, Lady Gaga announced that she had designed a special prayer wristband with all of the proceeds from sales going to benefit those affected by the disaster.

After two days of sales, Gaga revealed that her fans had raised $250,000 for the victims, tweeting, 'Monsters: in just 48 hrs you've raised a quarter of a million dollars for Japan Relief.'

Lady Gaga Drops 'Judas' Early

Lady Gaga Drops 'Judas' Early: "

Dark, synthy track premiered on London radio station on Friday.
By Jocelyn Vena

When you're Lady Gaga, scheduled premiere dates mean absolutely nothing. Her next single, 'Judas,' was originally slated to drop April 19, but Capital FM in London played the song days earlier, during the radio station's 'Home Run' program on Friday afternoon (April 15).

The RedOne-produced track finds Gaga in familiar territory, singing about a lover she knows might not be right for her, but whom she just can't resist. 'Ohhh, I'm in love with Judas,' she opens on the track, accompanied by building synths. Soon a thumping electronic beat kicks in as Gaga sings, 'Judahhh/ Juda-a-ah/ Gaga.' The battle cry is reminiscent of the one in 'Bad Romance.'

Gaga's vocals are partially spoken, and at times she seems to have a Caribbean accent. She laments, 'When he comes to me I am ready/ I'll wash his feet with my hair if he needs/ Forgive him when his tongue lies through his brain/ Even after three times, he betrays me/ I'll bring him down, I came with no crown.'

The tone lightens up a bit more on the song's chorus, which throws back to '80s pop in melody, as the beat picks up a bit and Gaga sings, 'I'm just a holy fool/ Oh, baby, he's so cruel/ But I'm still in love with Judas, baby.'

After the second verse and chorus, the song breaks down into a churning house song as Gaga chants in much the same way she does in the middle of 'Born This Way.' Then she sings, 'I wanna love you/ But something's pulling me away from you/ Jesus is my virtue, Judas is the demon I cling to, I cling to.'

A day before she decided to release the track early, Gaga tweeted this message for her fans: '#PawsUpForJudas! I've learned love is like a brick, you can build a house or sink a dead body.'

The song is Born This Way's second single, following the phenomenal success of 'Born This Way.' The album hits stores on May 23, and the video for 'Judas,' directed by Gaga and her creative director Laurieann Gibson, is expected to premiere in the coming weeks.

'Let the cultural baptism begin,' Gaga said of the track in a Gagavision video earlier this month. 'If they were not who you were taught they would be, would you still believe?'

Lady Gaga's 'Judas': Fans Weigh In!: "

Gaga's Little Monsters declare the track 'genius' and 'hardcore.'
By Jocelyn Vena

Lady Gaga gave her fans a treat for the weekend when she dropped her new single 'Judas' days earlier than the previously announced April 19 release date. Right after the RedOne-produced song dropped, Gaga tweeted about the single, the second from Born This Way, due May 23.

'Even After Three Times He Betrays Me,' she wrote, harking back to the song's lyrics about love and betrayal. 'THE REAL JUDAS: HE'S EVERYWHERE, NOW. DON'T STOP UNTIL HE'S YOURS,' she added.

She also tweeted art for the song: In bright-red font, the word 'Judas' appears in all caps, above a red cross with a heart in the middle. The art was teased in an installment of Gagavision earlier this week.

Shortly after the song was released, fans immediately reacted to the genre-defying track that mixes dance, metal and even reggae. 'I've listened to it at least 20 times already...can't get enough....going 2 b another number one for sure! PAWS UP!' SHforlife commented on MTV News' article about the song's release. 'This song is legit...beat is fn hardcore to the max...genius...'

'I've listened to it just once so far. I know that just like 'Born This Way,' the more I listen to it, the more I like it!! Great song. I hope it still debuts pretty high atop the Hot 100 even though there was virtually no hype for this like there was for BTW!' Kyle noted. 'It kinda just came out of no where! Could be a good thing though!'

There have been some detractors, including critics who think 'Judas' sounds too much like 'Born This Way,' but the response has been overwhelmingly positive. Chifi55 called it 'revolutionary, breathtaking... Gaga is changing music history and no one can stop her!!'

Many of Gaga's Little Monsters have simply dubbed the song 'amazing' and 'awesome,' while many have been able to articulate what it is about the song they love so much. 'JUDAS!!!!!!!.....Lady Gaga the cultural baptist!!!!!!!!!!!' Rohit Little commented. 'I'm in love with JESUS for making GAGA for making JUDAS for giving me eargasms!!!!'

Lady Gaga Reveals Surreal Born This Way Cover

Lady Gaga Reveals Surreal Born This Way Cover: "

Gaga is pictured as a half-woman, half-motorcycle hybrid in the image, which she posted on Twitter on Saturday.

The slow reveal of Lady Gaga's Born This Way continued over the weekend as Mother Monster pulled back the veil on the cover of her hotly anticipated album, which will be released on May 23. Although now, perhaps we should start calling her Motorcycle Mama, since the Nick Knight-conceived artwork for the LP that Gaga tweeted on Saturday shows the pop star transformed into a half-woman, half-motorcycle hybrid made of shining chrome and perfectly tousled blond hair.

Under gleaming, metallic-silver bubble letters spelling out the album title, Gaga's head serves as the handlebar accoutrement to a badass chopper, with her arms forming the front fork of the street machine. The entire image is in black and white except for the pop star's lips, which are colored a deep red.

The cover reveal came shortly after the leak of Born This Way's second single, 'Judas.' Though the tune isn't slated to drop until Tuesday, Capital FM in London played the RedOne-produced song on Friday afternoon.

The track finds Gaga in familiar territory, singing about a lover she knows might not be right for her, but whom she just can't resist. 'Ohhh, I'm in love with Judas,' she croons at the opening of the track, accompanied by building synths. Soon a thumping electronic beat kicks in as Gaga wails, 'Judas/ Juda-a-ah/ Judas/ Gaga!' in a battle cry reminiscent of the one in her previous smash, 'Bad Romance.'

And that's not all the Born This Way news. A Gaga fan site has reported that legendary Queen guitarist Brian May will be featured on the ballad 'You and I,' which Gaga has been performing live on tour for several months.

Daniel Radcliffe Admires Lady Gaga's 'Outspoken' Gay Rights Advocacy

Daniel Radcliffe Admires Lady Gaga's 'Outspoken' Gay Rights Advocacy: "

'Deathly Hallows' star tells MTV News, 'She has a slightly more flamboyant way of putting her point across.'

'Harry Potter' star Daniel Radcliffe has been one of the most active celebrities showing their support for the LGBT community, and his continued efforts on behalf of the Trevor Project has earned him a Hero Award. MTV News caught up with Radcliffe recently and talk turned to his affiliation with the gay rights/ civil liberties causes, so we asked if he'd ever come into contact with another passionate supporter: Lady Gaga. His response wasn't quite what was expected.

'No, never, although my mom and dad, bizarrely, went to her concert,' Radcliffe said with a laugh. 'Like, my parents at a Lady Gaga concert, which I just think is the coolest, oddest thing ... they're ahead of me on most things pop culture.'

Although Radcliffe has never met the colorful pop star, he said her advocacy for the gay community is something he's happy to be associated with. Gaga memorably joined in the National Equality March at the National Mall in Washington, D.C. and vocalized her support for human rights at the 2009 and 2010 MTV Video Music Awards.

Radcliffe said he can relate to Gaga's style of advocacy, even if he thinks his more subdued form of campaigning works much better for him.

'She's very outspoken as well, and it's just about being who you were born as. It's wonderful that other people are coming out from all different spectrums,' he said. 'I mean, she has a slightly more flamboyant way of putting her point across than I would, and it suits her a lot better than it would me. But we're both aiming for the same thing. But, no, I've never met her.'

Last year, we talked to Radcliffe about his relationship with the Trevor Project. He said, 'It's something I've always been quite passionate about. Because I grew up around gay men, it was always a natural thing to me. It was never something I ever gave a second thought to.'

The Trevor Project's help line is a free and confidential service that offers help 24/7. The trained counselors are always available at (866) 4-U-TREVOR (488-7386) or visit their website, TheTrevorProject.org.

Lady Gaga's Born This Way Cover: 'American Chopper' Star Weighs In

Lady Gaga's Born This Way Cover: 'American Chopper' Star Weighs In: "

Paul Teutul Jr. tells MTV News he's puzzled by Gaga's motorcycle makeover.
By James Montgomery

When Lady Gaga unveiled the cover art for her much-anticipated Born This Way album over the weekend, even the most manic of Little Monsters seemed perplexed by her brand-new motorcycle makeover ... with some even going so far as to speculate that the cover was fake.

And if you think Gaga's fans are confused by the BTW cover, well, then you should hear Paul Teutul Jr.'s take on it. After all, he designs motorcycles for a living, first under his dad's tutelage at Orange County Choppers — made famous on Discovery Channel's "American Choppers" — and now with his own shop, Paul Jr. Designs. Turns out Junior's sort of at a loss when it comes to Gaga's new look.

'This chopper is very, kind of, uh, interesting. They kind of melted the motor around and stuff so it's hard to even see what they have ... they almost did a ribcage, kinda see-through in the tank. But none of it feels really smooth,' he told MTV News. 'The bike that it emulates the most is that 'Easy Rider' bike ... it has that king and queen seat, it's got the old-school exhaust, but I can't really tell what kind of bike it is.'

Of course, aside from the assumed technical issues, Teutul Jr. said that he's most puzzled that the Born This Way album cover didn't go even further. Because, as he put it, what could be cooler than a full-fledged Gaga-cycle?

'Looking at it, I would've made it more of an integration of her into the bike. It would be more seamless. In other words, it would be her and the bike morphed,' he said. 'If you're Born This Way, then it almost has to look kind of mermaid-ish, in the sense that there's this fusion between the actual mechanical aspect and the human perspective. ... It's a little cut-and-paste looking. I would've done something even integrated throughout the bike that would've been more 'Lady Gaga.'

'How awesome would it have been if her entire body, like, her feet actually became the axle rod for the rear tire, and her body actually formed the entire bike? I mean, it could've been a more flowing, freakier look,' he continued. 'And that's what we do at Paul Jr. Designs. Our full integration isn't 'put a sticker on it.' Our full integration is we make that bike what the theme is intended to be. It's about pulling off the theme front-to-back.'

And to that end, Teutul Jr. said that he'd love to work with Gaga on an actual motorcycle &#8212 it'd probably make for an interesting episode of his show, "American Chopper: Senior vs. Junior," which returns April 25 &#8212 because it would give him and his team a chance to do what they do best.

'I would get inside her head on the whole project, and really be able to pull off what it is, creatively, that she would want integrated into the bike,' he said. 'And for this tour, she could come out onstage and it could be a whole theatrical thing that ties around the actual album cover. I think it would be a great fit and we're both young and creative. It would be a great collaboration for sure.'

Lady Gaga Confounds Fans With Born This Way Cover

Lady Gaga Confounds Fans With Born This Way Cover: "

'I don't really understand what the album cover has to do with the theme of the album,' writes one fan.
By Gil Kaufman

Lady Gaga

Photo: Ian Gavan/ Getty Images

Lady Gaga lives to confuse. From her interstellar stage costumes to her alien-like facial ridges and meat couture, Mother Monster keeps her fans on their toes. Take, for example, the recently revealed cover art for her hotly anticipated Born This Way album.

In addition to instantly spawning a legion of goofy parodies, the Gaga-as-motorcycle image has also done exactly what the pop star likely intended: set the Internet on fire with lively conversation, argument, conjecture and just a bit of unfocused rage.

Here, then, are what a few of Gaga's many opinionated followers had to say about the Born This Way cover art:

'I don't really understand what the album cover has to do with the theme of the album which is supposedly about being yourself (born this way),' wrote fan AB in reaction to an MTV News story on the image, a surreal assemblage depicting Gaga as the front fork of an 'Easy Rider'-style chopper. 'Obviously she wasn't born to be a motorcycle lol also the font on the cover and the picture was just done really bad they could have done a much better job.'

In a nod to the obsessive nature of Gaga fandom, however, Windrider countered with exactly why the cover makes perfect sense. 'She foreshadowed this type of design perfectly in two remarks that her fans SHOULD be recalling by now: 'I don't want to be part of the machine. I want the machine to be part of me.' From her appearance on Google Talk,' wrote Winrider, referencing Gaga's Google interview with fans in early March.

'The second is the entire discussion with the Haus in Gagavision #42 about the covers, when they talk about the DIY aspect of cover design (e.g., 'Judas') and doing something that is a 'f--- you' to the over-commercialized graphic design aesthetic. And of course, it's Gaga doing the very LAST thing you'd expect her to do.'

Tamara totally agreed, dubbing the woman/machine blend a fitting metaphor for Gaga's relentless professional drive. 'Gaga is so energetic and does so very much all the time ... she is a MACHINE, and an amazing, fast, stylish, revved up one at that!! Go Gaga! Nobody can top her,' she wrote.

And there you have it. Nothing happens by chance in GagaLand, and her fans see meaning in every word and deed. That said, not everyone was convinced. 'Not too fond of the album cover but honestly, not like many album covers from other musical stars are much better,' wrote Doodlebug. Vjuggalo, meanwhile, didn't think it was creepy, just 'uninspired' and, frankly, a hack photoshop job with 'horrible'
perspective and scaling.

Others were just plain confused about what the motorcycle had to do with the album title (was Gaga born ... a motorcycle?) and suggested other images that would have made more sense. 'I'd rather have seen a naked newborn baby on the cover! At least it would fit,' said Cathy. 'I remember when album covers actually meant something, and often matched the concept of the album or album title. It is the ugliest CD/album cover I've ever seen and Lady Gaga looks like she walked off a horror movie set.'

Even Paul Teutul Jr., the 'American Choppers' alumnus whose life is dedicated to creating monster machines, was on the fence about Gaga's metal meld.

'Looking at it, I would've made it more of an integration of her into the bike. It would be more seamless. In other words, it would be her and the bike morphed,' he told MTV News. 'If you're Born This Way, then it almost has to look kind of mermaid-ish, in the sense that there's this fusion between the actual mechanical aspect and the human perspective. ... It's a little cut-and-paste looking. I would've done something even integrated throughout the bike that would've been more 'Lady Gaga.' '

Lady Gaga Feels She's Been 'Probed Endlessly' About Who She Is

Lady Gaga Feels She's Been 'Probed Endlessly' About Who She Is: "

'Judas' singer goes on curse-filled rant in new issue of NME.
By Jocelyn Vena

Lady Gaga is on the defense these days. Fans aren't sure how they feel about her Born This Way cover art, and in the new issue of British music magazine NME, the singer felt the need to let the world know that she's not some gimmick and her shtick is the real deal, protruding face bones and all.

'Let me tell you something. If you f---ing rip my hairbow and my wig off my f---ing head, my shoes, my bra, every single thing on my body, and you throw me on a piano with a microphone, I will f---ing make you cry,' she proclaims in the magazine, which hits newsstands on Tuesday (April 19). On the cover, Gaga appears in a see-through body suit, with zippers over her lady parts, wearing heavy eye makeup, her now signature 'BTW' prosthetics and a wig she wore in the 'BTW' video.

'I feel I have been probed endlessly about who the f--- I am,' she continues. 'I have been quite open about it. And still nobody seems to have a clue.'

Gaga recently unveiled her second single, 'Judas,' off her May 23 album release. Parts of the song may pay homage to some of her past hits, but it is certainly not the type of pop song that Katy Perry or Britney Spears would record. 'I'm not going to start churning out what you expect,' she said. 'If you want me to be a manufactured act, you can f--- off.'

The star also defended her prosthetics recently in Harper's Bazaar. 'Well, first of all, they're not prosthetics. They're my bones,' she said in the issue. 'They've always been inside of me, but I have been waiting for the right time to reveal to the universe who I truly am. They come out when I'm inspired.'

She mirrored that sentiment on her Twitter page on Tuesday, writing, 'Born This Way is who I am. An artist in a constant state of half-fantasy/half-reality at all times.'

When Lady Gaga tweeted the Born This Way album art over the weekend, fans were a bit surprised by the cover photo, which features Gaga as a motorcycle/human hybrid.

Was it a joke? Was it for real? Well, it was for real, and even days later, everyone's still talking.

'They were definitely divisive and it was a polarizing image,' Gaga's pal Perez Hilton told MTV News. 'I knew it would really get a reaction out of people, and that was her intent. She could have easily gone for something expected, but that's the beautiful thing about Gaga.'

The gossip blogger said the Nick Knight image's intention was to get people buzzing, whether or not that buzz ended up in the Mother Monster's favor. He even offered some insight into the photo's message, which has been lost on some of Gaga's Little Monsters.

'She always wants to keep people guessing, and I think the cover works on many different levels,' he explained. 'Literally, she was born that way, [like] some kind of mutant freak. There's a lot of energy in that picture.'

He adds that the vibe captured in the image will also find its way into the music on the May 23 album release. 'There's something very metal [about it and] 'Judas' [which was released last week] gives a taste of that dance/metal feeling,' he said. 'Once the album comes out and they listen to the music, the artwork will make more sense. She loves that people are talking about it.'

Lady Gaga Calls 'Judas' Leak 'A Slow Death'

Lady Gaga Calls 'Judas' Leak 'A Slow Death': "

Gaga opens up about the Born This Way creative process in latest 'Gagavision.'
By Jocelyn Vena

Lady Gaga

Photo: Tom Briglia/ WireImage

This week's 'Gagavision' theme is 'Music From Born This Way,' as Gaga revealed more details about her May 23 album release. The video includes a possible preview of one of the album's tracks, shots from her forthcoming HBO special and her thoughts on last week's leak of her latest single, 'Judas.'

Perhaps a tease to one of the album's tracks, the music for the 'Gagavision' video includes a song that starts off with slow, dramatic church-organ keyboard notes as Gaga says, 'My fans are my sunshine. They are the sunshine in the darkness of the arena.

'Looking out into the darkness, I feel really fearless and strong and brave.' A montage of Gaga rehearsing and making phone calls and her fans holding up signs plays as the song's synth tempo picks up.

Dressed like a space-age Cruella De Vil, Gaga heads off to do a promo. 'The greatest challenge in writing Born This Way is I had to become confident and secure in myself,' she explained. 'I had to leave my insecurity behind, whatever residual scars behind. I spent two years delving deep into my wombs; the blood transfusion.'

The video even addresses the 'Judas' leak that took place right before she released it to the masses on April 15. She likens it to a disembodiment, saying, 'A slow death! Just put me out of my f---ing misery, just put that sh-- out. They were tearing [the song] limb for limb. First it was the arm of the song, then the liver. ...

'I wrote it really quick,' she later says, while lounging fully clothed in an empty bathtub. 'I mean, all of the songs on the album, to be completely candid, the creative process is approximately [a] 15-minutes process. It's 15 minutes of vomiting my creative ideas in the forms of melodies, usually, or chord progressions and melodies and some sort of a theme, lyric idea. And then I spend days, weeks, months, years fine tuning. But the idea is, you honor your vomit.'

The video ends with Gaga teasing her Monster Ball and the 'polarizing' cover art for Born This Way. Fittingly, new teasers for her HBO special, which was taped at her Monster Ball shows at Madison Square Garden earlier this year, also hit the Net. The special airs May 7.

In one promo, Gaga hits the streets of New York City dressed in a studded leather jacket and high platform (and heelless) ankle boots, as 'Born This Way' plays in the background. It leads to shots of the madness at MSG leading up to the show, which is eventually teased in the clip. In the second, shorter preview, shots of her performance is teased while her new single, 'Judas,' plays.

Lady Gaga To Perform On 'Saturday Night Live': "

Sources tell MTV News she'll appear alongside Justin Timberlake on May 7.

When Justin Timberlake returns to host 'Saturday Night Live' next month, none other than Lady Gaga will join him as musical guest during the May 7 show. A source confirmed the booking to MTV News, though no official confirmation has come though from 'SNL' reps.

Gaga last appeared on the show in October 2009 in what went down as one very memorable episode. Gaga and Madonna poked fun at pop-star rivalries during the sketch 'Deep House Dish,' where they had a catfight and nearly kissed.

That night, Gaga performed two songs: a high-concept take on 'Paparazzi' and a piano-driven performance of her dance track 'LoveGame.' She later appeared in a sketch alongside Andy Samberg, when both of them wore her famous bubble dress.

Being that this latest appearance comes just as Gaga is dropping her May 23 album release Born This Way, there's a good chance she'll perform lead singles 'Born This Way' and 'Judas.' Or, as she's known to do, she might just dazzle fans with a brand-new track.

This is the latest promotional appearance announced for the album, including a May 27 appearance on 'Good Morning America' that will kick off the show's summer concert series and the May 7 premiere of Gaga's highly anticipated HBO special, which was taped at New York's Madison Square Garden in February. She also just wrapped up work on her video for 'Judas,' though no date has been set for its release.

Comedian claims Gaga's people initially denied him the right to release his parody 'Perform This Way.'

The great 'Weird Al' Yankovic-Lady Gaga standoff of 2011 appears to be over. After the song parody king wrote a lengthy blog on Wednesday complaining that Gaga's people had denied his request to release his stinging 'Perform This Way' cover of Gaga's 'Born This Way,' he updated the situation later in the day and said it was a big misunderstanding.

"After putting my Lady Gaga parody on YouTube this morning — and announcing that it wouldn't be on my next album because Gaga didn't approve it — there was a huge outpouring of disappointment from the Internet," Yankovic wrote. "Apparently the fact that she didn't approve it was news to Lady Gaga herself! Gaga's manager has now admitted that he never forwarded my parody to Gaga — she had no idea at all. Even though we assumed that Gaga herself was the one making the decision (because, well, that's what we were TOLD), he apparently made the decision completely on his own."

Though a spokesperson for Gaga had not returned requests for comment at press time, Yankovic said the singer's manager has apologized to him for the mix-up and noted that apparently Mother Monster 'loves the song.'

Yankovic's songs are legally protected by fair-use laws, but he has made a point of getting approval from the artists he is parodying before releasing his songs, including Michael Jackson, R.E.M., AC/DC, Madonna and Chamillionaire, who sang the praises of Al's "White & Nerdy" take on "Ridin'."

Citing an unnamed source 'extremely close' to the singer, TMZ reported that 'there must have been a misunderstanding because [Gaga] is in no way trying to block the release of the parody.' Other unnamed sources added, 'she's busy touring and hasn't heard the song yet. Her manager hasn't had a chance to play it for her yet ... she's a huge Weird Al fan.'

Yankovic, 51, said he's thrilled the situation has been resolved because he not only respects and admires Gaga as an artist (who clearly has a 'great' sense of humor), but it also means he gets to put out his new album. Proceeds from the video will go to the Human Rights Campaign.

Lady Gaga Apologizes For 'Retarded' Comment

Lady Gaga Apologizes For 'Retarded' Comment: "

'To anyone that was hurt, please know that it was furiously unintentional,' singer says.
By Jocelyn Vena

When Lady Gaga dropped 'Born This Way' earlier this year, the tune immediately drew comparisons to Madonna's 'Express Yourself.' Shortly after the song was released, Gaga shared with the world that the pop queen liked the song and gave the pop princess her seal of approval.

Now Gaga has once again been asked about the comparisons in a new interview with NME. And she didn't seem pleased by the line of questioning.

'That's retarded. If you put the songs next to each other, side by side, the only similarities are the chord progression. It's the same one that's been in disco music for the last 50 years. Just because I'm the first f---ing artist in 25 years to think of putting it on Top 40 radio, it doesn't mean I'm a plagiarist, it means I'm f---ing smart. Sorry.'

The issue hit newsstands on Tuesday and by late Wednesday night the singer had issued an apology to her fans about her choice of words when defending herself and the chart-topping tune.

'I consider it part of my life's work and music to push the boundaries of love and acceptance. My apologies for not speaking thoughtfully,' she said in a statement to Perezhilton.com. 'To anyone that was hurt, please know that it was furiously unintentional. An honest mistake requires honesty to make.'

She then went on to quote some lyrics from the feel-good dance track: 'Whether life's disabilities left you outcast, bullied or teased, rejoice and love yourself today.'

What do you think of Gaga's apology for using the 'R' word? Tell us in the comments.

By Jocelyn Vena

He said as much while hosting 'Saturday Night Live' earlier this month, but now Elton John has officially confirmed that Lady Gaga is his son's godmother. In an interview with Barbara Walters that was teased during 'Good Morning America' Friday morning (April 22), the British music superstar, with his husband David Furnish by his side, opened up about his decision to name Gaga godmother to their son, Zachary.

'Yes, yes she is. When you get to the real person under there, there's a real simple person under there who loves her parents,' he explained.

Furnish added, 'Zachary's going to inherit an incredible musical legacy from his father one day, and she will be a good person to guide him through the ins and outs of the music business, 'cause she sure knows everything about the business now.'

Talk of Gaga's involvement in Zachary's life began to surface earlier this year, but the couple wasn't in a hurry to confirm the reports. In a February interview, Furnish wouldn't confirm or deny whether Gaga was the godmother.

'We haven't publicly confirmed that yet but your sources are very good!' he said. 'I prefer not to comment on it because we are going to make a statement about godparents later on.'

When John hosted 'Saturday Night Live' on April 2, he joked about Lady Gaga being his son's godmother. 'For those of you concerned that we are unusual parents, do not worry. It's not like we are the only two people involved in the child's life. His godmother is Lady Gaga. That's true, that's not a joke ... which is ironic because I've always said that Mars ain't the kind of place to raise your kids. And Gaga loves Mars. She says Mars has good schools and great discos.'

Elton was at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York this week to promote 'The Union,' a Cameron Crowe documentary about John's Grammy-nominated collaboration with fellow music legend Leon Russell.

Lady Gaga Debuts 'Glee' Clip From 'Born This Way' Episode: "

Singer took to Facebook to share 50-second teaser that shows Mr. Schuester giving New Directions Gaga assignment.

'Glee' is ready to go Gaga all over again. But this time, the New Directions gang will not only pay tribute to the pop star, they'll also embrace themselves in an episode devoted to self-acceptance.

Lady Gaga took to her Facebook on Friday (April 22) and premiered a clip from the highly anticipated episode, which airs Tuesday. In the preview, Mr. Schuester tells the club they'll be performing songs of self-love, including a group number of the singer's hit 'Born This Way.'

Finn Hudson (Cory Monteith) kicks off the 50-second teaser by asking Mr. Schuester (Matthew Morrison) why Ms. Pillsbury (Jayma Mays) is attending their glee club meeting. Schuester tells the students that the guidance counselor will be helping out with the weekly assignment.

'Now, this is the only club at school that is represented by just about every race, religion, sexual orientation and clique, but many of are you are still having a hard time with acceptance,' he says.

Despite rebuttals from the students, the club director explains that while they may embrace one another, they still don't accept themselves — for all of their good and bad qualities. Mr. Schuester then reveals the two-part assignment: singing tunes of self-acceptance that highlight their best and worst aspects, as well as performing 'Born This Way.'

'We're going to do a group number by the queen of self-love, Gaga. We're going to perform her anthem to acceptance, 'Born This Way,' ' he tells the students, who break into cheers and applause.

Back in January, 'Glee' creator Ryan Murphy opened up about why he chose to feature the hit song in the episode, which has been super-sized to 90 minutes. 'I love that that song is [an] anthem,' Murphy told Entertainment Weekly. 'This show is by nature optimistic, and I think a character like Karofsky could turn to booze or pills or alcohol and kill themselves or do something dark. But I also love Max [Adler, the actor] and I love that character and I sorta want that character to have a happy ending. So I don't really know what that's going to be, but I do know we're going to do a whole episode that's about that song.'

Lady Gaga's 'Judas' Video Is 'Groundbreaking,' Laurieann Gibson Says

Lady Gaga's 'Judas' Video Is 'Groundbreaking,' Laurieann Gibson Says: "

'It's a phenomenal video: really powerful, really impactful,' creative director tells MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Vanessa WhiteWolf

Lady Gaga Photo: Tom Briglia/ WireImage

Lady Gaga is ready to tell her version of the Bible in her 'Judas' video, which recently wrapped production in L.A. MTV News caught up with the video's co-director and Gaga's creative director, Laurieann Gibson, to talk about the clip as well as her new E! show 'The Dance Scene,' debuting Sunday.

'I will tell you now, first off, I'm Christian, and my career is evidence of God in my life, and I think that most people are already thinking that Gaga and the blasphemy and they're premeditating the approach and I think they'll be very shocked to find out how huge and really groundbreaking the message is and how freeing the message is for all the right reasons,' she said. 'And it's really going to shock the world.'

The cast includes some big-name cameos as well, including Norman Reedus as Judas. 'He was so prolific,' she declared of his performance, adding that the video is 'badass' and that Gaga will play Mary Magdalene.

The two ladies took it upon themselves to make sure the video's direction was perfect — so they just decided to direct it themselves. "There was elements of 'Born This Way' during our collaboration [with director Nick Knight] and, as much as I loved it, there were moments where, for me, it didn't really evolve as I had inspired of the actual creative, which was still fine.

'But when we got to 'Judas,' it was very clear to me and the inspiration was very clear to her. We approached a director, but then the dates actually got messed up and it was conflicted and her manager and her looked at me [and asked me to direct it with her].'

Gibson said she took a moment before agreeing, as she had just wrapped up work on Lady Gaga's Monster Ball HBO special, premiering in May, but she 'couldn't resist. It's a phenomenal video: really powerful, really impactful. She's such a strong, committed artist. Her loyalty to me is something I will be forever grateful for. We're spiritually connected. We need each other ... and 'Judas' is ultimately a representation of our true bond.'

Lady Gaga Recorded 'You And I' With Producer Mutt Lange

Lady Gaga Recorded 'You And I' With Producer Mutt Lange: "

The pair reportedly teamed up for the Born This Way breakup track. By Jocelyn Vena

Lady Gaga Photo: Tom Briglia/ WireImage

After Lady Gaga teased that 'someone legendary' would be producing her Born This Way track 'You and I,' it appears that someone is Mutt Lange.

According to GagaDaily.com, the song is being helmed by Lange, the renowned producer, who has created hits for the likes of Maroon 5, the Jonas Brothers, Britney Spears, Celine Dion, the Backstreet Boys and his ex-wife, Shania Twain. (A rep for Gaga had not responded to MTV News' request for comment about the reported collaboration at press time.)

Lady Gaga has been putting the finishing touches on BTW, revealing over the weekend on Twitter, 'The Haus of Gaga is in full fledged factory mode. Born This Way album cover is finished, + monsters she is glorious.' Gaga also teased an upcoming installment of Gagavision to drop on Tuesday.

The pop star has been playing live versions of 'You and I' for some time now. She debuted the track at Elton John's White Tie and Tiara Ball last June. At the time, she tweeted that the track was 'written in NY on the piano I grew up on.'

The midtempo breakup track soon became a staple of her live show, where she routinely busts it out mid-Monster Ball, sitting at her piano. On it, she sings, 'It's been a long time since I came around/ It's been a long time, but I'm back in town/ And this time, I'm not leaving without you.' The track then crescendos into a lament about this 'cool Nebraska guy' she once loved so much.

Lange joins an ever-growing list of producers on Gaga's May release. It has already been confirmed that RedOne (who produced her second single, 'Judas'), Fernando Garibay and DJ White Shadow (the pair co-produced 'Born This Way,' among other tracks) are all working on the album.

Rebecca Black's 'Friday' Beats Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga On YouTube

Rebecca Black's 'Friday' Beats Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga On YouTube: "

'Friday' has had 100 million views to date, with Black currently working on her second single, 'LOL.' By Gil Kaufman

Rebecca Black in her video for 'Friday' Photo: Ark Music Factory

There was a minute there when Rebecca Black's 'Friday' video was, almost literally, inescapable. Whether the success of the viral hit was being covered on such unlikely outlets as CNN or NPR, getting parodied on late-night television, or just bouncing around from Twitter accounts to e-mail in-boxes and music blogs, the tune by the previously unknown 13-year-old had the kind of white-hot media buzz usually reserved for a Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber.

Well, guess what? The little $2,000 pay-to-play ditty-that-could can now claim to have surpassed such major label juggernauts as Bieber and Gaga. According to a Reuters report, the no-budget clip for Black's song has been viewed more than 100 million times on YouTube since it was released on February 10, surpassing the totals for Gaga's 'Born This Way' and Bieber's 'Pray' videos, based on numbers provided by Visible Measures, a company that tracks the performance of Web videos.

Scratch that. If you count spoofs, other versions and home-brewed takes on the song, it's actually been seen more than 200 million times. Crunching the same numbers for 'Born This Way,' it has generated 180 million online views, while 'Pray' has racked up 65 million.

It doesn't seem as though Gaga minds the competition from the Ark Music Factory product, as she reportedly referred to 'Friday' as 'genius' recently. Black told us she 'freaked out' when she heard the compliment from Mother Monster. 'I'm 13 and I never thought Lady Gaga would even know my name. I'm the kind of girl that dances to Lady Gaga with a hairbrush in her room at night,' Black told MTV News in late March before she notched her YouTube record.

Black is reportedly at work on her second single, 'LOL,' though a release date for that song has not yet been announced.

Lady Gaga To Donate 'Born This Way' Country Remix Proceeds To Charity

Lady Gaga To Donate 'Born This Way' Country Remix Proceeds To Charity: "

Gaga is giving some proceeds earned from the just-released 'Country Road Version' of her hit song to the gay-advocacy group GLSEN. By Jocelyn Vena

Late last month, Lady Gaga unveiled a guitar-searing, harmonica-infused, countrified version of her smash hit single, 'Born This Way,' via her Twitter account. Ten days after its debut, Gaga has officially released the track, and will donate some of the proceeds from the tune to charity.

A portion of the money earned from sales of 'Born This Way (Country Road Version)' will go to the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), which, according to the organization's website, 'strives to assure that each member of every school community is valued and respected regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression.'

The country remix of the hit song, which was co-produced by Gaga and Fernando Garibay, boasts some new lyrics that play up the track's twangy influences. Over picked mandolin accompaniment, Gaga sings, 'If I wanna make it country, baby, it's OK/ 'Cause I was born, I was born, I was born this way/ From London, Paris, Japan back to USA/ I was born on the road, I was born to be brave.'

In February, during a chat on Gayle King's talk show, Gaga confirmed that there would be two videos for 'Born This Way.' The Nick Knight-directed, sci-fi-influenced clip for the song's original version dropped at the tail end of February. Meanwhile, there's no word when or if Gaga will ever release a video for the 'stripped-down' country version of the track considering she just wrapped up work on her clip for Born This Way's second single, 'Judas.'

Do you plan to buy 'Born This Way (Country Road Version)'? Tell us in the comments.

Lady Gaga's 'Judas' Single To Drop On April 19

Lady Gaga's 'Judas' Single To Drop On April 19: "

Mother Monster reveals the song's release date in new online video post. By Jocelyn Vena

Lady Gaga Photo: Kevin Mazur/WireImage

The opening minute or so of the 41st installment of Lady Gaga's Gagavision, the first edition of the pop superstar's video blog after a lengthy hiatus, shows her getting her makeup applied with a searing techno song playing as the soundtrack. As the close-up footage of Gaga's face gets rolling, words appear on the screen announcing, 'Music from Born This Way 5-23-11.'

But it's the end of the Gagavision episode that likely will excite the singer's fans the most, as it includes an announcement all of her Little Monsters have been waiting for — the release date for her next single, "Judas." As Gaga is shown dancing in rehearsals for the 'Judas' video, which she co-directed with her creative director, Laurieann Gibson, Mother Monster is heard in a voice-over saying, 'So that concludes Gagavision Number 41. 'Judas' is coming. Let the cultural baptism begin.' A message is then shown that reads, 'Judas April 19. If they were not who you were taught they would be, would you still believe?'

The Gagavision installment also gives fans a glimpse at what life is like for Gaga, sometimes in a grainy black-and-white documentary style similar to Madonna's 'Truth or Dare.' The video is filled with behind-the-scenes footage of Gaga, getting her makeup done, getting styled to do promo ('We should just wear a classic black suit all the time or just nudity,' she remarks as she checks herself in the mirror while wearing a partially see-through black outfit) and approaching a protestor at one of her Monster Ball tour stops.

The protestor, who is at the show handing out 'Get Out of Hell Free' cards, chides Gaga's because of her 'pervert ways.' When she lets him know that she believes in God and even went to Catholic school, he says to her, 'That's probably most of your problem is you got raised in a screwy religion.' Later on we see the singer again in front of a mirror as she comments about the man's seeming intolerance. 'It just makes me sad that my fans have to see that,' she says.

'Judas' will be the second single off Gaga's Born This Way album, which will be released on May 23. Promotion for the record will include a May 27 appearance on 'Good Morning America' that will kick off the show's summer concert series and the May 7 premiere of her highly anticipated HBO special, which was taped at New York's Madison Square Garden in February.

O Music Awards To Celebrate Online Creativity -- Voting Starts Today!

O Music Awards To Celebrate Online Creativity -- Voting Starts Today!: "

Lady Gaga, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj and their die-hard fans are up for awards at April 28 event. By MTV News staff

O Music Awards Photo: MTV

The typical awards show is packed with performances, celebrity appearances, red-carpet arrivals and, at some point, the presentations of the night's biggest prize, usually just before the credits roll.

The O Music Awards? Not so much. The first-ever edition of MTV Networks' latest awards extravaganza will take everything you know about awards galas, throw it in a blender, mash it up with an obscure black-and-white cartoon from the 1940s, add a Kanye West beat under it and maybe some adorable LOLcats and a snippet of 'Friday' on top, post it on Twitter and watch it go mega-viral.

Instead of just honoring the singers, songwriters, directors and producers who make our favorite digital-music products, the O Music Awards will dig deeper in such categories as Innovative Music Video, Fan Army FTW, Funniest Music Short, Innovative Artist, Must Follow Artist on Twitter, NSFW Music Video, Most Viral Dance, Best Independent Music Blog, Best Animal Performance, Best Performance Series and more to dig up the people behind your favorite online music and videos, professional, amateur or just plain awesome.

Voting begins Wednesday (April 6) on the O Music Awards website, and like the best viral memes, it will be simple, social and transparent, with fans encouraged to vote via social media through a mobile voting wap site. You can follow the top vote-getters in the categories on a real-time leader board in the run-up to the April 28 event. Performers and presenters will be announced in the coming weeks.

And unlike those other awards shows, the night's biggest trophy might be handed out before the broadcast, during it or even after, to keep the conversation going.

'There will be an event, but it won't be a traditional awards show with a host, audience and a bunch of celebrities,' promised Shannon Connolly, vice president of music strategy for the MTV Music Group. 'It will embody what the O Awards celebrates, which is being very interactive. We'll have live performances, mash-ups, collaborations and it will be a Web event that will take place not just on MTV Music Group sites.'

Lady Gaga and Odd Future's Tyler the Creator lead with three nominations each, followed by Kanye West, the Flaming Lips and Nicki Minaj with two nominations apiece. Additional nominated artists include Arcade Fire, Radiohead, Justin Bieber, Lil B, Wiz Khalifa, Robyn, OK Go, Katy Perry and iamwhoiam. Notable nominees include Antoine Dodson/ Gregory Brothers (Funniest Music Short), the Lonely Island (Funniest Music Short), Funny or Die (Funniest Music Short), 50 Cent, Rebecca Black and Bert (Favorite Animated GIF), the Hype Machine (Best Music Discovery Service), Pandora (Best Music Discovery Service), Tiny Desk Concerts (Best Performance Series), Gorilla vs. Bear (Best Independent Music Blog) and Marshall Jones (Best Music Hack).

Fans will definitely be front and center, with an entire category devoted to the Best Fan Cover, the most rabid online fan following (which will pit 30 Seconds to Mars' Echelon against the Beliebers, Katy Perry's Bandaids, Gaga's Little Monsters and the followers of My Chemical Romance, Nicki Minaj, Tokio Hotel, Wiz Khalifa, Rain and Rihanna). There are also nods to the Best Fan Forum, Best Music Hack and Best Animal Performance.

The Innovative Artist race is a tight one as well, including such nominees as the Flaming Lips, iamwhoiam, Kanye, Gaga, Lil B, Radiohead and Tyler the Creator. You'll have to choose between the Dougie, the Pony, Lil B's Cooking Dance and the 'Whip My Hair' boogie in the Most Viral Dance category.

In keeping with recent digital-music innovations from MTV Networks like MTV Hive and the Music Meter, Connolly said it was apparent that the time was right to create an awards show that moved at the speed of the Net. 'Music consumption has never been greater, and it's hugely important to our audience,' she said. 'We felt like the time was right to look at the convergence of technology and music fans and the YouTube celebrities who've created this new ecosystem where music is exploding.'

Voting starts today for the O Music Awards. Make your voice heard!

Lady Gaga and her team took the weekend to work on the video for 'Judas,' the singer's second single off her May release, Born This Way. With little known about the clip other than that it is co-directed by Gaga and her creative director, Laurieann Gibson, Gaga and her cohorts all teased the shoot on Twitter over the weekend.

Early Sunday, Mother Monster herself shared that she's quite proud of the video. She tweeted, 'Directing Judas video with my sister @boomkack is the most exciting artistic moment of my career. It's the greatest work we've done. Day 2.'

Her faithful stylist, Thierry Mugler creative director Nicola Formichetti, kept fans abreast all weekend, tweeting on Saturday, 'Just finished shooting our incredible day 1. We are so blessed.'

On Sunday, he shared that the crew has been busy working on the video in Los Angeles, where Gaga recently played some shows on her Monster Ball Tour. 'Good mornin' LA! It was magical yesterday. so excited for our day2!!!!!!!!!!@ladygaga @BoomKack @TheValGarland #judas.'

Lady Gaga Teases 'Someone Legendary' Producing 'You And I'

Lady Gaga Teases 'Someone Legendary' Producing 'You And I': "

RedOne, Fernando Garibay and DJ White Shadow already confirmed for Born This Way. By Jocelyn Vena

Lady Gaga Photo: Kevin Mazur/WireImage

Lady Gaga might have recently tweeted that she's basically wrapped up production on her May album, Born This Way, but the singer shared that there's still work to do on her piano ballad 'You and I,' which it seems has made the final cut.

'I can't tell you who yet, but someone legendary is producing this next song,' Gaga told the crowd at her tour stop in Anaheim, California, on Thursday night, an eyewitness confirms to MTV News. 'I'm so excited.' The singer added that she 'can't wait' for fans to hear the May 23 release.

Whoever the person is she hooks up with, they will be joining previously announced producers RedOne, Fernando Garibay and DJ White Shadow, who all have contributed tracks to the highly anticipated release.

With the album's first single, 'Born This Way,' still burning up the charts, fans have been hungry to know more about the album's next single, 'Judas.' With some lyrics already floating around the Internet, it's only a matter of time before Gaga and her creative director, Laurieann Gibson, get to work on the video for the track.

'It's no surprise, I'm sure, to many of you, that Judas is a man of the biblical senses, so expect to see some symbolism in this video,' Gaga explained. 'You have to look into what is haunting you, and you need to look into forgiving yourself in order to move on. And it's really fun to dance to and sounds like it could be a pop priest record.'

Tell us your guesses who the 'legendary' producer of 'You and I' will be in the comments below!

Lady Gaga fascinated by unicorns

Lady Gaga fascinated by unicorns: "

Lady Gaga fascinated by unicorns celebrities

Lady Gaga is obsessed with unicorns.

The flamboyant pop star is fascinated by the mythical creature – which is typically depicted as a white horse with a single, straight horn growing from its forehead – because it is different and contains “magic”.

The ‘Born This Way’ singer said: “I’m actually quite obsessed with unicorns. They are in essence a mythical creature. The unicorn is born magical and it’s not the unicorn’s fault and it doesn’t make it any more or less special or any less unique but it can’t help that it was born with that magic.”

The eccentric musician believes her fascination with the creatures comes from her love of My Little Pony toys – miniature multi-colored horses that also included ranges of unicorns and Pegasi, flying horses – when she was a child

Speaking on the ‘Big Top 40′ radio show in the UK, she added: “I had My Little Ponies. I was obsessed with the idea of a creature that was born with something magical that sort of made them the misfit in the world of the stallion.”

The 24-year-old singer is believed to be including a track entitled ‘Unicorn’ on her upcoming album ‘Born This Way’, although it has not yet been confirmed if the song will make the final LP.
